Most of us have probably heard about this one already.
The Texas govenor sign into law this week a bill that bans late term abortions. No big surprise there.
But what got noticed was that he did the signing ceremony at a church school. There were apparently some protestors outside protesting the whole church-state thing.
And the govenor apparently was "returning the support of his Christian friends."
Okay...Whatever.
But then I thought...WWJS?
Where Would Jesus Sign?
Would Jesus sign a bill, any bill, in a church building. Because Jesus got pretty mad at some people once for trying to sell things in God's house. I mean was he overreacting...I mean they were just trying to earn a living, and then Jesus comes in all high and mighty and turns over everyone's table. Geez!
One can argue that Jesus is against late-term abortions. And I think I could safely agree with that.
But would Jesus be really happy about the fact that they turned a house of prayer, his Father's house, into a political show?
Not sure?
Just ask yourself WWJS.

Excellent point. The more we careen towards theocracy, the less involved we seen to be in scripture. I feel very out of place these days...
Very well put. The Republican party is using evangelical Christians to get votes. The sad thing is, we as Christians justify our blind support of this travesty because the Republicans use lots of pretty words about morality. But I think if we examine our hearts, we enjoy being on the side that has the power to overwhelm those in the minority. I fear the day when we reap what we're sowing today. I, too, feel very out of place these days.
Dallas Morning News has the answer in print of why Gov. signed the bill in the church school. He has another republican challenging him in the next primary. Paper states that he has the religious community behind him because he signed the bill in a church school. Some people aren't fooled. There are a lot of us that feel out of place these days.
